The four classic cars abandoned on the Marssac-sur-Tarn carpool area west of Albi for almost six months were finally destroyed and removed. More than three weeks ago, this odd story was revealed: two BMWs, a legendary Ford, and a Simca left alongside the A68 motorway, with some people even leaving their phone number on the windshield to buy them. Three weeks later, they are no longer on site.
Despite many individuals’ attempts to buy them, the four 1970s collector cars were taken away about fifteen days ago. After six months of waiting and questions, it appears a recent report prompted action.
An inquiry was opened and assigned to the Albi gendarmerie brigade to try to learn more. The gendarmes quickly went to the scene to gather testimonies. One witness stated the cars belonged to a consignment garage located in the area, but that its owner was unreachable. The gendarmes eventually managed to contact him and required him to remove his cars, which was done fifteen days ago, according to the same witness.
A totally unexpected sight, the four cars were crushed on the spot under our witness’s eyes. “There was nothing left,” he says. The cars were then loaded onto a truck and taken away.
For their part, the Tarn gendarmes confirmed that the cars had been removed. “An incomprehensible end when you know that several of us tried to contact the owner to buy them. I’m almost moved to tears,” our witness concludes. According to him, the consignment garage closed, so its owner had to clear out.
Bewilderment remains complete among the inhabitants of Marssac-sur-Tarn as well as users of this carpool area on the Pastel motorway near Albi, since the abandonment of the four vintage vehicles.
