This transparency aligns perfectly with new incentives. Starting September 2026, buyers in France can claim up to €400 in energy-saving certificates for used EVs registered 2017-2023—but only if the SOH is 80% or higher. Clear labeling makes eligibility a breeze.

Actionable Advice: Always cross-check the listed SOH with service history. Look for patterns like consistent charging habits or low-mileage highway use, which preserve battery life better.

Looking Ahead: EU Battery Passport on the Horizon

While this agreement covers key sellers, not all will follow suit immediately. However, the European Union is mandating a ‘battery passport’ from February 2027. This digital QR code will provide full battery details—including SOH, carbon footprint, and recycling info—for both new and used vehicles.
