2026 Lexus IS Survives with Another Refresh

The Lexus IS has received yet another update for 2026, marking the third refresh of its long-running current generation.
This facelift brings a revised front end with a bolder grille, an upgraded cabin, and tweaks to the steering and suspension.
The lineup has now been simplified to a single version, the IS350, dropping the IS500. Offered in F Sport and F Sport Design trims, the IS350 retains its 311-hp 3.5-liter V-6.

The IS’s future has been uncertain for some time. This generation has been on sale for 11 years, with two facelifts since 2014 to keep it relevant. When Lexus revealed the IS500 Ultimate Edition for 2025, it looked like a farewell for the sports sedan. Fortunately, Lexus has confirmed the IS350 will live on a bit longer with this latest update.

Fresh Styling and Cabin Upgrades
While its profile is unchanged, the 2026 IS gets a new front grille that stretches to the hood line. Trim-specific details include a rear spoiler and red brake calipers for the F Sport, while the F Sport Design gains redesigned 19-inch wheels. A new exterior shade called Wind — a metallic gray tone — joins the color palette.

Inside, the IS has been modernized with better tech and materials. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster replaces the old setup, and the standard 8.0-inch infotainment screen has been swapped for a much larger 12.3-inch unit. The climate controls now sit neatly in a single row, and vents adopt a sharper trapezoidal design.

Materials are more premium as well, with forged bamboo trim on the console and switchgear. F Sport buyers can now choose a Radiant Red interior. Features like dual USB-C ports front and rear, wireless charging, and either a 10-speaker Lexus Premium audio or a 17-speaker Mark Levinson system round out the upgrades.

Farewell to the V-8
Though the IS isn’t gone, its V-8 option is history. The IS500 and its 472-hp V-8 have been retired, leaving only the IS350 with its 311-hp V-6. Rear-wheel-drive versions pair the engine with an eight-speed automatic, while all-wheel-drive models use a six-speed automatic. On the bright side, Lexus says electric power steering and revised suspension tuning enhance feel and agility.

Pricing and production details remain under wraps, but the refreshed 2026 IS is expected to reach showrooms by early next year.
